Luther Rice Society
Nearly 200 years ago, Luther Rice raised the necessary funding and lobbied President James Monroe
and Congress to make George Washington’s vision of a university in the heart of our nation’s capital a reality. The Luther Rice Society is named in his honor.
The Luther Rice Society celebrates donors who make annual leadership gifts that transform the lives of students by providing scholarship funds, advancing cutting-edge research, and providing the “only-at-GW” moments that define the premier university in our nation’s capital. The society recognizes GW annual donors at the following levels:
- $250+ for alumni within 5 years of graduation
- $1,000+ for alumni 5+ years after graduation
Since its inception in 1968, LRS members have contributed millions of dollars to GW. These alumni, parents, students, and friends are proud of GW’s rich history, passionate about its current students and faculty, and dedicated to shaping its future.
