Emergency Student Assistance Funding

The GW Cares Student Assistance Fund provides critical support to GW students in need as a result of unexpected financial hardship, including the lingering effects of the covid pandemic.

Since 2020, the GW Cares Student Assistance Fund has supported 1,275 students. Students have received aid to help with transportation expenses, housing expenses, to offset income from lost jobs, and to be able to complete their schoolwork in a safe, secure environment.

Due to limited funds last academic year, we could only provide funding to a third of our student applicants, which means a majority of students did not receive the much-needed support.

Please help us show that GW Cares.

Ron Howard Student Assistance Endowed Fund

The Ronald W. Howard Student Assistance Fund was established in 1997 in honor of Ron Howard, a beloved administrator with a long history of service and dedication to the George Washington University community. Ron Howard frequently helped students in need from his own personal resources.  This endowed fund was created by friends and alumni in his memory to help undergraduate student leaders with unexpected financial need. More than 250 students facing unforeseen financial crises have benefitted from the Fund.
