GWTeach
Right now, too few K-12 teachers in STEM subjects are certified or are proficient in these disciplines, and by 2020, the United States will need 100,000 more math and science teachers. GW is positioned to help solve this challenge through GWTeach—a collaborative university-wide effort that prepares STEM teachers with the training and mentored K-12 school experiences they need to effectively teach STEM subjects in the classroom.
GWTeach combines a bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline, teacher training, and field work, setting GW undergraduates on a solid path to delivering high-quality and innovative STEM education to K-12 students. In just four years at no additional cost, GWTeach students will earn a bachelor’s degree and be eligible for teacher licensure.
