Charles E. Smith Center Transformation
Be a Partner in the Transformation of a GW Landmark
With leadership support in the form of a $10 million challenge match from the Robert H. Smith and Charles E. Smith Family Foundations and Robert P. and Arlene R. Kogod, we ask you to join with GW in raising $25 million to complete our $43 million transformation of this signature building.
The newly transformed Charles E. Smith Center now serves as the home for 450 student athletes competing in 22 intercollegiate sports. It features the University’s largest gathering place for activities ranging from student orientations to concerts and from Hall of Fame luncheons to commencement.
Phase IÂ and II added a new, expanded academic center, weight room, and updated sports medicine facility. The new Athletic Directors Club and Colonial Club offer a new experience to our devoted fans during the men's and women's basketball games.
Phase III brought makeovers for the lobby, entrances and exterior façade in the final steps of the construction.
